Professor Micklitz is one of the most highly regarded and influential scholars working in the field of consumer law, and we are sure that his engagement with the Journal's planning and production in future will be of immense benefit to all those involved in our work including most of all ultimately our readers. Professor Micklitz is currently Professor of Economic Law at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy (http://www.iue.it/ LAW/People/Faculty/CVs/Micklitz.shtml). There he teaches courses on private law, both in a comparative context and with reference to the growing impact of the EC's internal market project. His impressive expertise is amply demonstrated by reference to his publications, which range over fields such as international and European economic law, comparative law, and private law. Consumer lawyers know him best for his many major and sophisticated publications in the field of EC consumer law in particular books, journal articles, and reports, in English, in French, and in German. Professor Micklitz's current research embraces concern for what he calls the visible hand of European private law which engages questions of regulatory strategy and instruments as well as, still more broadly, inquiry into the place of social justice in EC law, an area of inquiry which has occupied Professor Micklitz profitably for some considerable time. A German national, Professor Micklitz wrote his Habilitation thesis in Bremen and he previously taught at the University of Bamberg, from which he is currently on leave while holding his position at the EUI in Florence. But intellectually he is a true European, and we are delighted to welcome him to the Journal's editorial team. A.
