The FIR Realignment Agreement is part of the three-agreement package negotiated and signed in January. Other agreements are the Extradition Treaty, signed in 2007, and the Defense Cooperation Agreement, which the States had finished negotiations in 2005. The FIR Realignment Agreement was later ratified by Indonesia in September 2022 and authorized through Presidential Regulation No. iog of 2022. The rat- ification itself was not accepted by some members of the public, who took the ratification authorization to the Supreme Court in November 2022. They claimed that the ratified FIR Realignment Agreement contradicts Article 458 of the Indonesian Aviation Law (Law No. 1 of 2009), and thus, the ratification must be canceled. The Supreme Court later decided that it did not contradict the Aviation Law and thus affirmed the continuity of its implementation prep- aration.
