Application of

ALASKA AIRLINES, INC. : Docket 38859

for unused authority under
section 401(d) (5) (A) of the
Federal Aviation Act, as
amended.

                                 ORDER

On October 20, 1980, Alaska Airlines, Inc. (Alaska)
filed an application under section 401(d) (5) (A) of the Act
for unused authority in the San Francisco-Palm Springs,
California (SFO-PSP) market. In the San Francisco-Palm
Springs market the authority of Air California is unused
within the meaning of section 401(d) (5) (A). The incumbent
carrier has not filed a notice of intent to institute service
 under section 401(d) (5) (G) (i), and Alaska's application is
the only one we have received seeking the authority requested.
No answers have been filed. We will therefore grant Alaska's
application for unused authority in the San Francisco-Palm
Springs market, Docket 38859.

     ACCORDINGLY,

     1. We grant Alaska's application in Docket 38859 under
Section 401(d) (5) (A) for unused authority in the San Francisco-
 Palm Springs market; and

      2. We will issue a formal amendment to Alaska's
certificate if it begins service within 45 days of this
order at a minimum of five round trips per week and continues
