JOINT RESOLUTION
Appropriating money for the protection of the Frontier.
.cr i o- 1. Be it resolved by the Senate and hIouse of Rep.
resentatives of the Republic of Texas in Congress assembled
That the sum of twenty thousand dollars be and the same is
hereby appropriated to the fitting out of two hundred and fifty
men of the second brigade Texas militia, (the iumber of men
called for by General !tusk) to quell the insurrection now exist-
ing among the Indians and Mexicans.
SFc'rION 2. Be it further resolved, That twenty thousand
dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated for obtaining
arms, ammunition, provisions and clothin_, for the' troops now
under the command of General Thomas J. R{usk upon our north-
em frontier.
SaeurioN 3. Be it further resplved, That General Thomas
J. Rusk be and he is hereby authorised to draw upon the Custom
louse Collector of the San Augustine Collectoral department
for the sum of ten thousand dollars forthwith.
SE.CTo,' 4. Be it further resolved, That from and imme-
diately after the passage of the above and lbregoing resolutions
that the Secretar y of State be and he is hereby required to for-
ward a copy of the same to General Rusk forthwith by express,
und that he draw upon the Treasury of the Republic of Texas
for a sufficient amount of money to defray the expenses of said
e cxpre,.
SEcrio 5. Be it further resolved, That General Mosely
Baker be authorised to demand and receive of the honorable
