HE R E AS the Regiment in the Pay of this V Colony, by Captivity and otherwife, is greatly Preamble. reduced.; and it being neceffiary for the Service of the Crown, that it fhould be recruited, and continued on Duty; Therefore, 2. BE IT ENACTED by the Governor, Council and General Afembly, and it is hereby Enaed by . the Authority of the fame, That fo many able bodied Freemen, or well affeaed Indians, TheRegiment )of this Colony fhall be raifed by this Colony, as with that Part of the faid Re- toberecruitd giment yet remaining, thall compleat Five Hundred effefive ,th Num Men, exclufive of Commiffion Officers, to aa in Conjundion with his Majefty's regular Troopa, and thofe of the neighbour- TobenD ing Colonies, until the Fifteenth Dar of November next, in until thet the Defence and Security of North-America; which Regiment, of Nov. next. when recruited, fhall be formed into Five Companies of One Hundred Men in each Company; the Whole to be com- manded by a Colonel, and each Company by a Captain, Lieu- tenant, and Enfign; which faid Officers fhall be appointed by Commifflions Digitized from Best Copy Available
