AN ACT
For the opening and making paffable a High-Way                 Patd h
from   Dartmozetb-College to Bofcawen.
WHE R E AS the Committee appointed by the late General-Court of
this State, at theiryelion in November laft, for thepurpfe of layingPreamble
out a road or high-way from Dartmouth-Collegeto the town of Bof-
cawen, have made their returnand it appearing lobevery necejary that
the fame fhould be cleared and made pafable for waggons and teams
asjoon as may be : Therefore,
I.     E  IT ENACTED BY THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF
B    REPRESENTATIVES, IN          GENERAL-COURT          Enaang
claufe.
CONVENED, That the feveral towns and parifhes, through which the
faid high-way is laid out, fhall, as foon as may be, clear and make
paffable a good waggon-road, -at the expence of the faid reiredive
towns and parilhes. And that the Sele&men of the faid towns and
parifhes, are hereby dire&ed and irnpowered to affefs a tax on the
rateable polls and eftates within their refpedtive towns and parithes,
agreeably to the Laws or this State,,for making and repairing high-
ways and bridges, fufficient to defray the expence of the fame.
And for the more efetinally carrying this at nto execution
$ II. BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED, That Col. Eli/ha Paynt,
Capt. 7ofeph Royt, and Lieut. Robert Smith, be a committee to call
on the Sele&men of the refpedive towns and pariffies, to make and
repair faid road; and the faid committee are hereby impowered to
dire&, order, and fee that the fame. is feafonably and effethially .
compleated.
