GOVERNOUR'S SPEECH.
REPRESENTATIVES' CHAMBER, TUESDAY, JUNE 7.
At 10 o'clock, agreeably to notification, is Excellency the
Governour, preceded by the Sher/ff and acconpamni d biq the
Council, met the two branches, and delivered thefolowing
SPEECH:

GRUTLEMEN Or THE HOUSE or n .,PuESLnTTiVzq,
HAVING been informed by your joint Committee,
that the two branches of the Legislature were ready to receive
any communication from the Governour which lie might have
to make to them, I requested you to allow me the honour of
meeting you at this time and place. - This practice has been
respected in the days of safety and prosperity, as vell as in the
periods when our country was involved in dangers and difficul-
ties. It might be justified by common usagc to submit to
your consideration the particular business which I conceive to
be necessary to your deliberations in the present session, and to
call your attention to no other subject.
The method, which I am urged by the exigencies of the
Country to pursue, does by no means exclude me Friom laying
before you, by special messages, the particular concerns of the
