B~ E it enactedby the Senate and House of Rep- 1.1 resentatives in General Assembly convened, That the Constables in the several towns in this State, shall warn the electors in their respective towns to Meetings of e- meet together on the first Monday of November next lectors at the usual place of holding elections, or at such other place, as may have been previously designated by an annual town meeting, in such towns, respectively, at nine o'clock in the morning of said day; which warn- ing shall be given at least five days previous to said how warned. meeting, by posting notice thereof, on the sign.posts in such towns, and in such other places as they may deem necessary. Sec. 2. That the town clerk and selectmen in the Presiding o ffi. several towns, are hereby authorized, if they deem it cer. expedient, to designate the person who shall preside at such meetings of the electors ; in case no presiding officer is designated by the town clerk and select-men, the electors shall choose the presiding officer, in which choice the town clerk, or in his absence, the eldest select-man present, shall preside.
