CHAP. I.
An Act incorporating the Middletown Manufac-
turing Company.
A      E it enacted by the Governor and Council and
.J House of R~eitresentative8 in General Court as.
aembled, That Arthur Magill, Joel Barlow, Alexander
Wolcott, Daniel Buck, Arthur W. Magill, and Isaac
Sandford, together with such other persons as have asso-
ciated, or may hereafter associate with them, for the pur-
poses of manufacturing cloths and other fabricks of wool,
and of cotton and wool, their successors, and assigns, be
and they hereby are created, and made a corporation, and
body politic, by the name and style of the 3fiddletown Corporate
Manufacturing Company, and by that name shzll be capa- nawne.

impleaded, of defending, and being defended, in all courts Generalpow-

authorized to have and use a common seal, and the same
to break, alter and renew at pleasure, and also to ordain,
establish and put i execution, such by-laws and regula-
tions as shall be deemed necessary and convenient for the
transferring of shares in the stock of said company, and
for the well ordering and government of said corporation,
not beiog contrary to this charter, or to the laws of the
