Dear Mr. Alm:
Re: Applicant and Licensee Disclosure of Arrests,
Convictions, Civil Complaints and Judgments, Demands
for Arbitration and Bankruptcies
This is in response to your letter of September 19, 1988,
requesting advice on whether the various boards and
commissions within the Professional and Vocational Licensing
Division may ask the following types of questions of persons
applying for a new or renewed license or certificate:
(1) Have you been arrested or convicted of a crime
related to the profession for which you seek a
license or certificate?
(2) Have you ever filed for bankruptcy or been adjudged
bankrupt?
(3) Have any civil actions, judgments, or demands for
arbitration been filed against you related to the
profession for which you seek a license or
certificate?
I.   Short Answer
Question 1: The boards and commisions may ask an
applicant if that person has been convicted of a crime related
to the profession for which the person is seeking a license or
