     NATURALIZATION RECEPTION
         A GREAT SUCCESS

Another first is credited to the WBAS
On February 9th it sponsored the first
reception honoring new U. S. citizens
following the naturalization ceremonies.
99 new citizens were greeted by officers
and members of WBA in the Lawyers'
Lounge in the New Courthouse where
soffee and sandwiches were served.

The reception had the enthusiastic sup-
port of Chief Justice Stevens of the
Court of Appeals and of Chief Judge Laws
of the District Court.

       New Citizens Appreciative

Many of the new citizens expressed de-
light at having received special invita-
tions and at being so honored on such an
important occasion in their lives.  One
of the many letters of thanks which our
President has received summed up the
appreciation of the new Americanst

   I want to thank you and your organ-
   ization and all those who gave us
   that wonderful reception for your
   keen interest in all of Aus. It cer-
   tainly means a lot to new citizens
   to realize how warmheartedly they
   are received, not only by their
   friends and relatives,.but by an
   organization such as yours, and it
   certainly adds to our pride.  It
   was a wonderful day and I will
   remember it as long as I live.

      Receptions to Continue

Representatives of various civic groups
present expressed their intention of
sponsoring future receptions, which
will also be under the continuing
sponsorship of WBA.


  ADMINISTRATIVE LAW SECTION WELCOMES
            WOMEN ATTORNETS

The President and Recording Secretary
attended the meeting of the Administra-
tive Law Section of the D. C. Bar Ass'n
on February 16.  The President spoke on
WBA and its members in administrative
law practice.

At the close of the meeting Chairman Don
Beelar suggested that WBA members join
the Administrative Law Section.  It was
pointed out that associate members of the
D.O. Bar Ass'n have full voting rights
within the Section.

        LEGAL SORORITTES SPONSOR
        NATURALIZATION RECEPTION
Kappa Beta Pi and Phi Delta Delta Legal
Sororities will sponsor the next recep-
tion in the Lawyers' Lounge in the New
Courthouse on March 9, 11 to 1:00 p.m.
It is hoped that all members of WBA will
make an effort to come and make the
second party as successful as the first.

        HOOVER TASK FORCE ASKS HELP
           OF WBA MEMBERS
Mr. Henry M. Shine, representative of the
the Task Force on Legal Services and
Procedure 6f the Hoover Commission, has
asked Joan Murphy, our President, for
the cooperation of the WBA in the work
of the Task Force.  Mr. Shine had been
particularly impressed with Joantso state-
ment before the Administrative Law
Section that so many of  our members are
engaged in the practice of law in  govern-
ment departments and he feels that the
long experience of these members would
be of great help to the Task Force.
