                              Minutes of the WBA
                          Board of Directors Meeting
                                June 17, 1986

The meeting was called to Order at 6:35 p.m. by President Bettina
Lawton. The following persons were in attendance: Martha Saenz-Schroeder,
Janet Blizzard, Pat Gillman, Colette Winston, Nancy Newkirk, Julia Frey,
Linda Bridgman, Pat Gurne, Barbara Werthmann, Ilene Price, Mary Revell,
Martha McQuade, and Mary Anglin.

Secretary's Report - The Minutes of the Annual Meeting held May 27,
1986 and the Minutes of the WBA Board of Director's Meeting held May 20,
1986 were adopted as revised. A motion was made, seconded and carried (MSC)
that those 38 persons proposed for membership on the list entitled New
Members for Board Approval from May 23rd were so approved.

Report by Publications Committee - Martha McQuade, Editor of the
Career Opportunities Bulletin, reported that although the Bulletin would be
type-set from now on, the cost of publication would remain the same. There
was some discussion regarding whether the job listing section of the
Bulletin should be significantly reduced, and if so, what methods would
ensure that WBA members have convenient access to the Job Listing Notebook.
Martha stated that the Bulletin will focus on items of interest to WBA
members different from those items addressed in the Newsletter.
Mary Anglin, Editor of the WBA Newsletter, reported that the goals
this year for the Newsletter are to better serve the membership by providing
timely notification of events and well written articles. The copy due date
schedule has been moved up in order to ensure that members receive their
Newsletter in advance of events occuring. The publication dates for the
Newsletter and the Bulletin are staggered so as to not inundate the members
with publications at the same time. There was some discussion regarding the
necessity of having a picture in the Newsletter and who should pick up the
cost of the photographer. It was the general concensus that the Editor
should have the discretion of whether to run a photograph. Additionally, it
was suggested that a way to cut down the cost of securing a photograph is to
ask speakers to supply a photo. Discussion also centered around
advertisements in the Newsletter and Pat Gurne requested that the Editor not
place advertisements on the back of that portion of the Newsletter which is
returned to the WBA office with reservations.
In order to inform the membership of events which occured after the
last publication of the Newsletter Pat Gurne made a motion which was MSC
that the WBA authorize the Editor to send a mailing to the membership as
soon as possible which would include notice of election results, the Woman
Lawyer of the Year Award, the new Executive Director, the new offices and
any other information the President wishes to include. Articles are to be
sent to the Editors home address.

Report by the Showcase Committee - Wendy Adams, co-chair ofthe
Showcase Committee reported that the Committee will be responsible for
putting on one to two programs a year, and will coordinate a monthly program
with a different committee in each of the other months. This change was
