COMMITTEE CHAIRS AND FORUM HEADS MINUTES OF MEETING OF JANUARY 8, 1985 The meeting was opened at 6:37 p.m. by President Janine Harris. The following officers, committee chairs, and forum heads were present: Pat Gillman, Martha Saenz-Schroeder, Ann Rasenberger, Nan Beiter, Cory Amron, Erika Jones, Kathy Haygood, Linda Ravdin, Katharine Donohoe, Mary Brooner, Elizabeth Merritt, Penny Wakefield, Linda Bridgman, Helen Blechman, and Barbara Solomon. PRESIDENT'S REPORT: Janine reported on several events, including the pro bono training program planned by the D.C. Bar on February 13, at the Women's National Democratic Club; a birthday party honoring Alice Paul, on January 10, to be held at the Sewell-Belmont House; Janine Harris has been nominated to serve on the Board of Governors of the D. C. Bar. We will be officially endorsing her nomination and expressing our support. The Elections Committee Recommendations are being considered by the WBA Board and will be voted on at the next Board meeting, January 15th. Janine reviewed the alternatives being considered for our office situation, including the decision to hire our own staff person in 3 months. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Helen Blechman, of the Litigation Forum, announced that a meeting featuring Jamie Gorelick will need to be rescheduled from February 13, to another time as that evening will be the WBA monthly meeting. Diane Seamer will also be a future speaker on cross-exam techniques, which they hope to video-tape. Linda Bridgman, of the Publicity Committee, announced the Press Breakfast to be held on February 12. Fran Pinto, and Pat Jayne, could not be present because of illness, but Pat Gillman announced the Legal Business Seminars planned for 4 Wednesdays in March at 1800 Massachusetts Ave. All details will appear in the Newsletter soon. The Symposium this year will be held at American University on April 20, and will be on the subject of Mid-Life Career Crises. Working Mothers Forum is planning a First Aid training program.
