           Re: WBA Grant Requests

     Dear Deb and Members of the Proposal Review Committee:

           Enclosed is an original and four copies of three proposals for grant requests
     submitted by the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia (WBA).
     The three grant proposals relate to: (1) the WBA Mentoring Program (Tab 1);
     (2) the 1999 WBA Judicial Reception (Tab 2); and (3) a follow-on leadership retreat
     on diversity for the WBA and WBAF (Tab 3).

           We understand that the WBA Foundation presently is considering
     amendments to its statement of application procedures and evaluation criteria for
     grant proposals. In preparing the enclosed proposals, the WBA has followed the
     application procedures and evaluation criteria currently in effect and set forth in
     the 1998 WBA Directory (How to Apply for a Foundation Grant).

           Please let us know if there is any additional information you require in
     connection with the enclosed grant proposals. We hope that the Foundation will be
