RESUME CONSULTANTS SET WORKSHOP FOR THURSDAY EVENING, MAY 5

Life was so much simpler back then. You sat down, typed out a chronology giving education
and work experience, mentioned a few personal facts for warmth and the resume was done.
Now everybody's talking format, selective presentation of material, action verbs, targeting
your audience - in short, a systematic approach to enhance your opportunities for a successful
job change.

To dispel the mysteries of this new approach and help workshop participants to use this
new method are the goals of the speakers for our May program, Chris White and Jeanne
Svikhart. Their workshop will focus on the mechanics of putting together a good legal resume,
with heavy emphasis on group discussion and analysis of sample resumes. The special concerns
and problems encountered by experienced lawyers in drafting resumes will be addressed in detail.

Christine White, currently Executive Director for Professional Affairs at Steptoe & Johnson,
Chartered, has been active in the legal recruitment field since 1971. Prior to joining Steptoe,
White served as Assistant Dean of Villanova University School of Law for six years. She is
co-author of Managing the Recruitment Process (Harcourt, Brace, 1982), a comprehensive guide
to organizing a legal recruitment office.

Jeanne Q. Svikhart has been involved in legal recruitment for over fifteen years, initially
as Placement Director of the George Washington University National Law Center and currently
as Recruitment Administrator at Arent, Fox, Kintner, Plotkin & Kahn. Svikhart is co-author
with White and Robert Latella of a monograph entitled The New Lawyer: Recruitment,
Development and Management (American Bar Association, July 1983), chapter on Associate
Evaluation.
