handle is hein.peggy/wbacmfccm0003 and id is 1 raw text is: V WOMEN'S BAR ASSOCIATION OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA COMMITTEE AND FORUM CO-CHAIR MEETING March 5, 2002 MINUTES The meeting was called to order at 12:13 p.m. In attendance were Deborah Israel (President), Ellen Jakovic (President-elect), Heidi Sorensen (Treasurer), Jennifer Duane (Secretary), Susan Kovarovics (International Law Forum), Gracemarie Maddalena (Career Development Committee), Celine Callahan (Working Parents Forum), Susan Gerson (Government Attorneys Forum/Executive Endorsements), Paulette Chapman (Litigation Forum), Mary Legg (Working Parents Forum) Regina DeMeo (Solo & Small Practice Forum), Jeanette Dayan (Tax and Business Forum), Christy Prame (Litigation Forum/Executive Endorsements), Jocelyn Fisher (Community Projects Committee) and Kimberly Knight (Executive Director). I. PRESIDENT'S REPORT (Deborah Israel) * WBA Elections - Mary Kate Whalen is chairing the WBA Nominations Committee. Co-chairs who are interested in running for a position as a WBA officer or Board member should let Deb or Mary Kate know. * Annual Dinner - The WBA is hoping to have Condoleezza Rice or Lynne Cheney speak at its Annual Dinner. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi is also under consideration as a possible speaker. We hope to have commitments from one or more of these individuals to speak at the dinner within the next week. * The Women Lawyer of the Committee will meet and make recommendations to the Board on this year's award recipients. Because this year marks the WBA's 85th Anniversary, multiple awards may be given out. Membership in the WBA is not a requirement to receive the award. * Annual Dinner invitations will be mailed out on April 9. Letters seeking sponsors for the dinner will be mailed out in mid-March regardless of whether there are confirmed speakers for the dinner. * Judicial Reception - will be held this Friday, March 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at WIMSA. Seventy judges have registered to attend. There are currently eighty-four paying attendees. One hundred fifty paying attendees is the targeted goal. Deb asked the co-chairs to publicize the reception in their firms and offices. Kim will send out an email of the press release to co-chairs to distribute to their colleagues. The WBA leadership should arrive at 5:00 p.m. to help host the event.
