I. PRESIDENT'S REPORT (Deborah Israel)

* WBA Elections - Deb announced that Mary Kate Whalen would be chairing the
nominations committee for the 2002 WBA elections. Mary Kate is currently taking
nominations for candidates to serve on the WBA Board for 2002-2003. Co-chairs should let
Deb and Mary Kate know if they are interested in being nominated. Deb will discuss the
time commitments involved in serving on the Board. Deb also asked the co-chairs to begin
thinking about whether they want to continue as co-chairs. The deadline for submitting
nominations is in February. The ballots are sent out in April.

* Co-Chair Meetings - Deb asked the co-chairs about their preferences for holding the
committee and forum co-chair meetings in the evening or at lunchtime. The consensus was
to rotate monthly between evening and afternoon meetings.

* WBA Membership - Deb asked the co-chairs to promote WBA membership in their law
firms and reach out to new attendees at their programs. Co-chairs serve as the WBA's best
ambassadors in promoting the benefits of WBA membership. Deb reported that the Board
voted to offer honorary WBA memberships to-judges. Her goal is to have every women
judge in DC become a WBA member by May 2002.

* Committee and Forum Programs - Deb reminded co-chairs that they must submit their
budgets to Deb, Heidi and Marjorie for review before their programs take place so that any
problems can be corrected and budget assumptions challenged and made more realistic. If
any committee or forum is considering using a co-sponsor outside of the WBA for any
,program, it must go through the Board to ensure there is no problem or conflict. Any
