I. WOMEN'S BAR ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION (Sandra Robinson) - Debbie introduced Sandra Robinson, the current president of the Women's Bar Association (WBAF). Sandra is serving her second year as WBAF president. Sandra described the mission of the WBAF. A. The WBAF serves as the charitable arm of the WBA, giving out grants to organizations that meet the WBAF's objectives as set forth in its charter and consistent with its status as a tax- exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. One objective of the WBAF's grant process is to provide funding for organizations that deal with issues relevant to women lawyers or that pursue activities improving the professional and personal lives of women in the legal profession. B. The process for applying for WBAF grants is outlined in the WBA Leadership Information manual. The WBAF is currently raising money for its Five in Five endowment campaign to give grants to various organizations. The WBAF gives approximately two-thirds of its fundraising revenue as grants supporting the WBA. The WBAF gives grants to the WBA to fund activities such as the WBA newsletter, the diversity program, the Lawyers-at-Home forum, WBA directory and website. C. The WBAF currently has about $20,000 in the budget for grants. The typical grant is $2000. Deadlines for the submission of WBAF grant applications are October 15, 2001 and February 15, 2002. Applications can be submitted anytime prior to the October 15th deadline. When applying for WBAF grants, Sandra urged co-chairs to describe how their programs fit within the WBAF's objectives. Co-chairs should have Deb, Nancy and Heidi review the grant applications before submission. The WBAF will review grant proposals within 60 days of
