          AMENDED MINUTES OF THE WOMEN'S BAR ASSOCIATION OF THE
            DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA COMMITTEE/FORUM CHAIRS MEETING

                          October 5, 1993

     Those present at the meeting  were:  Diana Savit, President,
Lalla  Shishkevish, Acting Executive  Director,  Jennifer Porter,
WBAF, Nancy  Long, Secretary, Lynn  Dorman (Membership), Jennifer
Warren and Nancy Thomson (Communications), Susan Swiatek and Julie
Davis (Tax & Business Forum), Juliana Schulte O'Reilly  (Community
Projects), Maureen Kerrigan (Partners Dinner/ Corporate Counsel),
Julie Heflin (Lawyers at Home), Irina Karpinski  (Naturalization &
Immigration), Virginia  Kling  (Working Parents), Nancy  F. Alley
(Judicial Endorsements), Ilene Price (Senior Attorneys), Karen Ryan
(Mentoring), Merry Lymn (Mothers and Daughters in Law) and Carol A.
Dalton (Naturalization and Speakers Bureau).

     I. Approval of September minutes:  The minutes for September
were approved as amended.

     II. Acting Executive Director's Report: The Newsletter needs
articles  from each Committee/Forum  chair each month.  GET THOSE
ARTICLES IN! ! !! Utilize the Underemployed/In-between job attorney
pool to write articles for the Newsletter.  Donna Franza's direct
line will be (202) 785-4867. The new computers have been installed
and will be networked by the end of the week.
     The First Impression program was held on September 28,  1993,
and more than made budget. Many thanks to Susan Crawford for a job
well done!!
     Julie Duke will be offered the position of Executive Director,
an1d hopefully will attend the next Committee/Forum Chairs Meeting.
     Each Committee/Forum chair  received a list of those persons
interested  in the respective Committees/Forums.   PLEASE contact
these individuals by phone, and  if you are unable to contact any
individual,  let  the  WBA  know  so  the WBA   can  contact that
individual.

     III.  Report on WBA Foundation activities:  Jennifer Porter-
President of the WBAF discussed the WBAF. Jennifer  explained that
the WBAF was organized in the early 1980's to assist the WBA carry
out its mission.  To date, the WBAF has, inter alia, hosted an art
auction in conjunction with the WBA, and a theater night; sponsored
the 1992 Annual Meeting, contributed $1,900.00 towards the cost of
printing  the  Newsletter,  and maintains   contact with  outside
organizations such as the House of Ruth and the Rape Crisis Center.
     Jennifer then discussed  the WBAF's Glass Ceiling Project,
and  explained that the  WBAF is  committed to  raise $100,000  on
behalf of the Project.   The Project focuses on the lack of women
partners in  large law firms. Jennifer distributed an outline  for
the Project. The Project should be of great interest to the  legal
profession.
     Jennifer  also  discussed  the  WBAF  with  respect  to  the
Committee/Forums.  Jennifer  explained that the WBAF could assist
