handle is hein.peggy/wbacfcc0002 and id is 1 raw text is: THE WOMEN'S BAR ASSOCIATION OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA COMMITTEE AND FORUM MEETING October 9, 2001 MINUTES The meeting was called to order at approximately 12:10 p.m. In attendance were Deborah Israel (President), Ellen Jakovic (President-elect), Heidi Sorenson (Treasurer), Marjorie Burnett (Treasurer-elect), Jennifer Duane (Secretary), Helen Hong (Tax & Business Forum), Jeanette Dayan (Tax & Business Forum), Sheryl Flum (Government Attorneys Forum), Irena Karpinski (Immigration & Naturalization Committee), Lisa Dunner (Intellectual Property Forum), Celine Callahan (Working Parents Forum), Christy Prame (Litigation Forum/Executive Endorsements), Gracemarie Maddalena (Career Development Committee), Paulette Chapman (Litigation Forum), Rebecca McNeil (Intellectual Property Forum), Tracy Durkin (Intellectual Property Forum), Jennifer Hindin (Communications Law Forum), Regina DeMeo (Solo & Small Practice Forum), Jocelyn Fisher (Community Projects Committee), Angela Fisher (Speakers' Bureau), Rachel Tumidolsky (Health Law Forum) (via telephone) and Kimberly Knight (Executive Director). I. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT (Kimberly Knight) Kim reported that she has received about 300 resumes for the administrative assistant position. About fifty of those candidates look promising. Kim hopes to have the pool of applicants narrowed to the most qualified and have the position filled by the end of the month. II. PRESIDENT'S REPORT (Deborah Israel) A. WBA Fall Kickoff - Debbie reported that the Fall Kickoff was a huge success. Mia Hamm stole the show. Debbie gave kudos to Kim and the co-chairs for pulling it all together. There were about 200 to 250 people who attended the Kickoff, with several of the attendees becoming members of the WBA that night. Kim will distribute the sign-up sheets listing those individuals expressing interest in the various committees and fora to the co-chairs. The co-chairs should use these lists of interested members to develop their committees and fora and to groom new members for leadership positions in the WBA. 1. Debbie sought feedback from the co-chairs about the Kickoff The consensus from the co-chairs was that while the space was elegant and well decorated, the acoustics of the room made it hard to hear the various speakers. Long lines formed at the bar and the bartenders were slow in serving the drinks. It may be necessary to have two bars at opposite ends of the room at future events to reduce the time spent waiting in line.
