Total deafness has isolated them from the vital human contacts of speech and hearing, deprived them of most of life's essential opportunities. The British Deaf Association provides for them extensive educational and social programmes: maintains a Home for the aged and infirm: provides community holidays for the elderly and help in many ways for the deaf in urgent need.
