Dr. C.D. Deshmukh,  aformer  Finance Minister of the
Union of India and a distinguished member of the I.C.S.,
hardly needs an introduction. He is the guest editorial
writer for the inaugural issue of Social Change.  An
eminent   economist,  sociologist and   thinker, Dr.
Deshmukh   is heading a number of  study, research and
social welfare organisations. He is also the President of
the  India International Centre, Council  for  Social
Development and the Population Council of India.

Mr. Ashok  Thapar is an Assistant Editor of The Times
of India. He writes frequently on agricultural and rural
problems. Mr.  Thapar is also a part-time farmer-he
manages  a cereal farm in Ludhiana district and grows
vegetables in Chattarpur, near Delhi.

A  Doctor  of Science in Chemical  Engineering  from
Massachusetts  Institute of  Technology,  Dr.  Tuhin
Kumar   Roy is the Managing  Director of Chemical  &
Metallurgical Design Company,   New Delhi. He  was a
development   engineer   with  Chemical  Construction
Corporation, New York and later Head  of the Depart-
ment  of Chemical  Engineering at Jadavpur University.
Hydrometallurgy  is Dr. Roy's special field.

Representative of  the Ford  Foundation in India from .
1951  to 1970, Dr. Douglas Ensminger  has  extensively r
studied India's socio-economic problems.  He is spec-
ially interested in agricultural, economic and social
development.  Dr.  Ensminger  is co-author of India's
Roots of Democracy.  At present he is the Co-ordinator
for Socio-Economic Studies at University of Missouri,
Columbia. Missouri.

Dr. Atma  Ram  is the Director General of the Council of
Scientific and Industrial Research. He has been honoured
many   times by educational and scientific organisations
