The work we do here gives us the tools to design, analyze, and implement policy to solve society's toughest problems. It can be discouraging, then, that our country often judges policy more by who is proposing it than by its own merits. That is why we selected articles for Policy Perspectives Volume 24 that examine creative solutions for difficult problems and explore the forces that affect which solutions are selected. It is our hope that, by publishing these unique pieces, we can do our part to promote balanced, fact-based policy making. This volume draws upon the diverse talents of students across the Trachtenberg School. Our Associate Editors-Francisca Alba, Jessica Burnell, Thomas Coyne, Matthew Dotzler, Haley Dunn, Brittany Harris, and Jean-Luc Tilly-conducted several rounds of editing to make each article the best it could be. Arpan Dasgupta and Nick Hugh returned as Senior Associate Editors to help us proofread the journal, along with Deputy Editor of the blog Grace Mausser. Megan Mattson had a hand in just about every aspect of Policy Perspectives, from assembling the journal's layout, designing the cover, and editing blog pieces, to writing this volume's book review. Conor McGrath brought our web presence into the year 2017 and, along with the rest of the blog staff, has produced fantastic short-form pieces throughout the year. We are incredibly grateful for the support and guidance of our faculty advisor and Director of the Trachtenberg School, Dr. Kathryn Newcomer; the faculty members who helped our authors strengthen their articles; Amber Palmer-Halma, Michael Downey, and Dolsy Smith, who guided us through the publication process and helped promote the journal; and the TSO board, who enthusiastically supported our efforts throughout the year. It has been an honor serving as Editors-in-Chief for Volume 24, and we are proud to have worked with such an exceptional group of people to present some of the Trachtenberg School's best work to world.
