ANNUAL REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE
        ACADEMY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE

THE Academy is entering its sixty-second year. I beg
to report on its activities during the year 1941, briefly
summarized under the categories (I) Meetings, (2)
Publications, (3) Membership and (4) Finance.

                      MEETINGS
The two regular meetings of the year, the Semi-Annual
Meeting and the Annual Meeting were held on April 16 and
November 12, respectively.
The Semi-Annual Meeting was devoted to America Faces
the Future , and the Annual Meeting to American Industry
in a War of Machines . Seldom have the Academy's speakers
received such enthusiastic applause as was tendered to Mr.
Fraser and Mr. Knudsen at the Spring Meeting and to Presi-
dent Wriston at the Annual Meeting. Other distinguished
speakers participated in each of these programs. The repre-
sentative and large audiences, and the publicity in connection
with both meetings, were very gratifying. The members of
the Program Committees and all the speakers have received
the cordial thanks of the Officers and Trustees of the Academy.

                     PUBLICATIONS
The year 1941 came to its close with the Academy prepared,
as it was in 1917-18, to devote the pages of the POLITICAL
SCIENCE QUARTERLY and the PROCEEDINGS to a consideration
of the insistent problems confronting the American people in a
world at war. During the troublous days that lie ahead there
