handle is hein.journals/modlr84 and id is 1 raw text is: DOI: 10.1111/1468-2230.12612 EDITORIAL The January issue of the Modern Law Review is an issue which the Editorial Committee as well as many of our readers especially look forward to, because it provides an opportunity to read in full the Chorley lecture delivered in the previous June. The Chorley lecture is our journal's annual public lecture, inaugurated in 1972 and named in honour of Lord Chorley of Kendal, the founding editor of the Modern Law Review. It is now nearing its fiftieth anniversary. In January 2020, we published Professor Robin West's superb Chorley 2019 on Con- sent, Legitimation and Dysphoria. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, the restrictions im- posed in response to the Covid pandemic forced us to postpone the 2020 Chorley which was to be delivered by Professor Hugh Collins of the London School of Economics. We are, however, thrilled that we will be hosting his lecture this year in real life, all being well, on June 16, 2021. The title of the lecture is Fat Cats, Production Networks and the Right to Fair Pay. We look forward to welcoming as many guests as possible to Professor Collins' re-scheduled lecture, and to publishing the lecture in the journal and online thereafter. As well as marking the absence of the Chorley 2020, I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved in the production of the journal over the past year for their hard work and commitment to the journal in such difficult circumstances. In particular, I want to thank our referees who have continued to referee our articles and provide constructive feedback for our authors, even though they were subject to the addi- tional burdens and pressures of Covid, lockdown, caring obligations and home schooling. Without our referees we obviously could not function. Their incredible commitment to the journal and to the academic community has allowed us to continue to function ef- fectively throughout 2020. Thank you. Secondly, I also want to take this opportunity to congratulate and welcome our Modern Law Fellows 2021. In response to the withdrawal of many post-doctoral opportunities resulting from the financial pressures engendered by Covid, and in recognition of the myriad pressures on early career colleagues, the Modern Law Review made available eleven post-doctoral MLR fellowships, which benefit from both a bursary and mentorship from a member of our Editorial Committee. Our eleven newly-appointed Fellows are working on a broad range of exciting and innovative projects and we look forward very much to seeing how their work develops over the forthcoming year. Finally, I want to take the opportunity on behalf of the MLR's Editorial Committee to wish our readers, authors, referees, our publisher and all involved with the production of the journal the very best for 2021.2020 has been so difficult for so many in our community, as it has been for everyone.
