handle is hein.journals/medlgjr65 and id is 1 raw text is: MEDICO-LEGAL JOURNAL Founded 1901 1997 Vol. 65 Part One EDITORIAL DR KATHLEEN ALLSOPP Kathleen Allsopp completed her medical training in 1961 at Guy 3 Iloopital, gained practical experience of many branches of medicine including paediatrics, pathology and occupational medicine before being appointed to the Medical Secretariat of the Medical Defence Union in 1978. Dr Allsopp rose through the ranks of the MDU becoming Deputy Secretary in 1985 and later being appointed to the post of Deputy Chief Executive and a member of the Board of Management. She retired from the MDU in 1993. Dr Allsopp's interests outside medicine include membership of the Cases Committee of the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund and working as a School Governor. She also is currently President of the local Woman's Institute and had many other interests in her local community. In addition she has recently become a doting grandmother of two.
