It is an immense honor to follow in the footsteps of my predecessors, Professors Bob Berring and Michael Chiorazzi. Both are internationally recognized scholars and trailblazers in legal research education and law librarianship. I am glad for the opportunity to continue to contribute to the promotion and distribution of high-quality scholarship and practical wisdom in my capacity as the chief editor. Additionally, I wanted to express my gratitude to all the editors and authors who have helped establish this journal's presence in the legal information publishing industry. I look forward to engaging with anyone passionate about legal research, legal information, or legal reference services in the future. I am convinced that journal publishing has influenced and will continue to help shape the library science and information profession by fostering reliable and ethical data access, sharing vetted information, curating knowl- edge, and building critical thinking frameworks and cognitive infrastruc- ture. Indeed, in an era of hybrid learning, fake news, and information overload, the value of and demand for high-quality journal publishing has increased even more. In the meantime, our profession has evolved and flourished in various ways. As Professor Berring noted when he launched the publication 40 years ago, 'Legal reference' is a broad but very special field. We believe that by launching this periodical, we are demonstrating that all librarians who do reference work with legal collections face unique challenges and must demonstrate their unique skills.' This statement continues to reflect our journal's core mission. However, over the last four decades, the scope of legal reference has evolved and grown at an exponential rate. Today, reference services include assisting and educating researchers on tracking, updating, evaluating, creating, and preserving sources responsibly.
