The first is State Legal Research Guides, by Fritz Snyder of the University of Kansas Law Library. Mr. Snyder compares and contrasts all available state legal research guides. He also discusses bibliographies of state materials. Because these juris- dictionally specific guides are often the best introduction to the liter- ature of a state, this piece is especially welcome. The second item is a revision of a speech that I gave at the 1983 A.A.L.L. Institute at S.M.U. Law School in Dallas on How to Be A Great Reference Librarian. The speech was a lot of fun and though I edited out many of the anecdotes, it still reads like a spoken text. Forgive the informal tone and the sermonizing. The opinions are, of course, mine alone. I'd love to hear from those who dis- agree. The third article is a Selected Bibliography of Copyright Materi- als With Annotations, by Paul Lomio of Stanford Law Library and Susan Kuklin of the Santa Clara County Law Library. The bibli- ography was first presented at an Institute sponsored by NOCALL in Oakland, California. It seemed to me to be one of the best guides I had ever encountered to the literature of this fast-changing field. Paul Axel-Lute of the Rutgers Law Library has given us Legal Bibliography Texts and Free Course Materials: A Selective An- notated List.
