5                Risk Management of Sex Offenders: A Model for Community
Intervention
Except for drug offenders, the number of sex offenders has grown
faster, since 1990, than any other criminal population. It is a
common belief that the best way to treat these offenders consists of
three approaches: Sex offender treatment programs, medication,
and the containment approach.

Regarding Execution Procedures
This article discusses one of the aspects regarding the death penalty,
namely, the distress caused to those other than the condemned
individual. This includes family members and others close to the
person to be executed, including those employed by the state,
correction officers, clergy, physicians, and witnesses to the process.

37               The Validity of the Colorado Not-Criminally-Responsible Findings
The authors examine the characteristics of those whom a jury has found
not guilty by reason of insanity and/or not guilty by reason of impaired
mental condition in Colorado. The study examines retrospectively those
findings which include data obtained from the subsequent
hospitalization and initial criminal commitments of those defendants.

51               Challenging Expert Testimony on Intelligence and Mental Retardation
An assessment of a defendant's intellectual finction is often needed in
a criminal trial to assess a number of variables, such as criminal
responsibility and competency to stand trial. The author examines a
number of variables which have led the U.S. Supreme Court to hold, in
the case of Atkins v. Virginia (2002) that it is unconstitutional to
execute a mentally retarded defendant.
