Feb 99 ISSN 0265-5527, p. 1 Editorial It is with great regret that the Editors have to announce the retirement of Leslie Wilkins from the joint Editorship of the Journal. Leslie has worked with three successive editorial teams and has provided the Journal with advice and guidance based on his deep understanding of methodological issues as well as that derived from his vast experience in several criminal justice systems. He took on himself the burden of seeing all articles which involved complex statistical analyses prior to publication and freely gave his time and advice to contributors. Leslie's work has meant that there has also been a high degree of continuity in the editorial processes of the Journal as well as, we believe, a sustained level of quality of the published product. The Editors would like to take this opportunity to thank Leslie for all that he has done.
