Climate change will disrupt every facet of our current global political system and climate researchers speak of the 'climatization of global politics' as new economic crises, increased numbers of refugees due to ecological collapse, intensification of resource conflicts, disruption of global supply chains and crises in diplomacy are all likely consequences of a warming planet. Even this journal's summer conference happened at the tail-end of the Europe's 2022 historic heatwave,` a disastrous event in which temperatures reached above 400C (1040F), fuelled catastrophic fires in France, Italy, Spain and Greece, melted infrastructure in the United Kingdom and caused an estimated 15,000 deaths according to the World Health Organization.
