handle is hein.journals/fudnjlnl7 and id is 1 raw text is: Rocky Mounini8 Mineral Law Review PREFACE ROCKY MOUNTAIN MINERAL LAW FOUNDATION The Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation was organized in 1955 to provide continuing legal education for lawyers who are inter- ested in oil and gas and mining law and taxation. To this end, the Foundation has conducted annual Institutes on legal problems of con- cern to oil and gas and mining attorneys, has engaged in the publication of significant looseleaf services, treatises and the proceedings of its annual Institutes, has collected research materials for the benefit of its members, and has initiated considerable original research in this field. The Foundation also works in the water law field and the index provided in this REVIEW reflects topics in that specialized area of the law. PUBLICATIONS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE FOUNDATION The looseleaf services available through the Foundation include the Gower Federal Service, the Gower Federal Service (Mining) and the Gower Federal Service-Outer Continental Shelf. The Gower Fed- eral Service provides attorneys with complete laws and regulations of the Department of the Interior pertaining to federal oil and gas leases, all opinions of the Solicitor and the Secretary of the Interior and sig- nificant decisions of the Director of the Bureau of Land Management and of the managers of the local land offices; the Outer Continental Shelf Service contains similar materials concerning leases on the outer continental shelf; and the Mining Service contains the laws and regula- tions and Solicitor's Opinions and decisions of the Director of the Bureau of Land Management and hearing examiners affecting mining on the public lands. Two treatises-the American Law of Mining and the Law of Fed- eral Oil and Gas Leases-have been published by the Foundation. The American Law of Mining is a five-volume treatise, with supplements to date, covering all areas of the mining law. The Law of Federal Oil and Gas Leases contains an analysis of every aspect of the laws, regulations
