                ESSAY CONTESTS-1997

   The purpose  of these contests is to encourage and promote original
thinking, research, and writing on important family law issues. Submissions
can deal with any theme. The  reviewing boards award superior articles
dealing with any relevant family law issue.

                           Meyer   Elkin
                           Essay Contest
   Open internationally to Family Law professionals, the 9th annual Meyer
Elkin Essay Award will be presented at AFCC's annual meeting in 1997. The
winner will receive a $400 cash prize and award certificate. The winning
article will be published in the Family and Conciliation Courts Review.
Articles may address any family law theme, and must be written in English.
Articles must be received by March 15, 1997.

                    Law   School Essay  Contest
   This contest is open internationally to all students attending law school.
Entries must be written in English and will be judged by a panel from the
FCCR   editorial board. Winning essay(s) will be published in Family and
Conciliation Courts Review. Winner(s) will receive a $400 honorarium and
certificate. Articles must be received by May 15, 1997.

                    Guidelines  for Submission
   To submit your manuscript to either contest listed above, send no more
than 40 typewritten, double-spaced pages to:
