This article examines the funding of bank supervision in the context of the dual banking system. Troubled Banks: Why Don't They All Fail? (page 23) by Robert Oshinsky and Virginia Olin This article focuses on troubled banks to create a four-state model that predicts failure and three alternative outcomes to failure: recovery, merger, and continuation as a problem. The results show that the four-state model not only predicts failure, but also offers more information about the possible future states of problem banks than a two-state model can.
