handle is hein.journals/fauvisie24 and id is 1 raw text is: FACTA UNIVERSITATIS Series: Law and Politics Vol. 24, N°1, 2026, pp. i-i Editorial EDITORIAL NOTE Dear Readers, This special issue examines the evolving relationship between human rights and artificial intelligence, motived by the roundtable Human Rights and Al held at the Faculty of Law, University of Nis, on 10th October 2025, within the framework of the Jean Monnet Project Digital transformation and human rights: EU perspective (DIGIRIGHTS). The issue comprises the contributions from some of the roundtable participants as well as other scholars who expressed interest in addressing this subject matter. The papers examine the transition from traditional ex post human rights protections to proactive design-based approaches, and consider the implications of Al systems on privacy, surveillance, education, property, and judicial-decision making. Collectively, these articles provide insights how legal frameworks may adapt to ensure the alignment of technological innovation with human dignity, the rule of law, and democratic values. Addressing both conceptual and practical concerns, this issue contributes to scholarly and policy debates on safeguarding human rights in the digital age. We hope that this issue will provide significant reference material for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers, and foster ongoing research, dialogue, and critical analysis.
