CESL was jointly established by the China University of Political Science and Law and the University of Hamburg in autumn 2008, on the basis of a financing agreement between the European Community and the PR China. It receives support from a Sino- European consortium, consisting of 15 European and Chinese universities, the National Prosecutors College and the National Judges College of the PR China as well as 27 associates, including renowned research institutes and international law firms. CESL's core activities consist of qualification programmes, professional training programmes and research. Like other law schools, CESL is to provide students with the education necessary to attain entry to and become outstanding members of the legal profession. CESL aims to lead the way in legal education, integrating innovation and autonomy and becoming an enduring part of legal academia. Law schools, in using legal literature to train future lawyers, are consumers of legal knowledge. At the same time, law schools in actively generating and expanding legal literature, are contributors to legal knowledge. CELJ aims to consolidate diversified legal perspectives. Its scope includes, but is not limited to, Chinese law, European legal developments of specific importance to China, the law of China-EU relations as well as the subject area China and Europe in a globalizing world. We welcome comparative studies of law. Interdisciplinary approaches exploring correlations between the law and the economy, society, politics, history and culture are of particular interest. As are theoretical and empirical articles that focus on the relation between law and development. We accept articles presenting genuine research findings as well as research reports and book reviews. CELJ welcomes all submissions that provide a genuine contribution to the furtherance of legal knowledge. We believe that open discussion facilitates the production of knowledge.
