handle is hein.journals/briephid49 and id is 1 raw text is: THE BRIEF Volume 49 Fall Issue, 1953 Number 1 Charter Granted To Hutcheson Inn At Houston University The 81st charter to be granted to a student Inn of Phi Delta Phi was delivered to Hutcheson Inn of the University of Houston in ceremonies at the Houston Country Club on October 10, 1953. Hutcheson Inn thus becomes the 73rd active Inn of the Fraternity. The name of Hutcheson is an old and distinguished one in the roll of Texas lawyers. The Inn itself has been named for Joseph C. Hutcheson, Sr., a prominent member of the Texas Bar and member of Congress. Mr. Hutcheson had three sons, includ- ing J. C. Hutcheson, Jr., Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals 5th Circuit and Palmer Hutcheson, Jr., a char- ter member of Roberts Inn at the University of Texas. Three of the six grandsons of the namesake of the Inn are members of Phi Delta Phi -Allen C. Hutcheson, Jr. (Roberts' '37); Palmer Hutcheson, Jr. (Rob- Joseph C. Hutcheson, Sr. erts '38), and Thad T. Hutcheson (Roberts '40). The installation ceremonies marked the culmination of nearly three years of single-minded endeavor by a deter- mined group of petitioners.
