It is an old stadium that has undergone significant changes over time. The last project began after the 2014 season. But according to the Chicago United States Attorney's office, those renovations violate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) in multiple ways. On July 14, 2022, it sued the Cubs and related entities, seeking damages, penalties, and a declaration that the renovation projectviolates the ADA, United States ofAmerica v. Chi- cago Baseball Holdings, LLC, Wrigley Field Holdings, LLC WF Master Tenant, LLC and Chicago Cubs Baseball Club, LLC, Case No. 22 C 3639, U.S.D.C. N.D. Ill, Eastern Division, (7-14-22)). BACKGROUND Wrigley Field is on Chicago's northside. Itwas built in 1914 and is the country's second oldest Major League Baseball stadium, after Boston's Fenway Park. It was origi- nally named Weeghman Park, after its owner, Charles H. Weeghman, who also owned the Federal League team that played there. When the Federal League folded, Weeghman purchased the Cubs and moved the team to his stadium. The Cubs played its first game at Weeghman Park in 1916. See CHICAGO on page 5 Cloud v. The Kansas City Chiefs picked Cloud in the second round of the 1999 NFL draft. Cloud played for the Chiefs, New England Patriots, and New York Giants in a seven-year career that was undistinguished. But Cloud's lawsuit for disabil- ity benefits, Cloud v. Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle NFL Player Retirement Plan, 2022 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 109943 (N.D. Tex. June 21, 2022), has made its mark and may make a difference in the lives of other players who became disabled as a result ofthe violent nature of the sport. BACKGROUND The NFL and the NFL Players Associa- tion (NFLPA) put into place an em- ployee benefit plan (the Retirement Plan) governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Under the Retire- ment Plan, players who were injured during their NFL careers may qualify for different levels of benefits if they are totally and permanently disabled. Cloudsustained numerous injuries, most notably a concussion resulting from a helmet-to-helmet collision in the Giants' 34-13 victory at Minnesota on October 31, 2004.
