This report discusses former presidents' costs for fiscal years 1975 through 1984. Former presidents are eligible for various benefits, including pensions, staff allow- ances, office space and expenses, Secret Service protection, and other associated items such as the establishment of presi- dential libraries. Spouses and minor chil- dren of former presidents are eligible for Secret Service protection. Surviving spouses are eligible for pensions, free postage, and Secret Service protection.
