Bank Examination For Country Risk And

International Lending

The U.S. bank regulatory authorities have
adopted a uniform examination system for
evaluating and commenting on country risk
to U.S. banks with relatively large foreign
lending. GAO found that the system's objec-
tives need to be better communicated, its
standards and administration are good but
could be improved, and its impact is
questionable.
