Accounting Standards: Generally

Good But More Training Needed

Before it ceased operations in 1980, the Cost
Accounting Standards Board issued 19 stand-
prds for cost accounting on negotiated defense
contracts.

GAO, in reviewing DOD, DOE, and NASA,
finds that, in general, Cost Accounting Stand-
ards are being effectively implemented. Agency
personnel, however, need additional training.
