The realinement is part of a general reorga- nizational change within the Army to improve the Army's materiel acquisition process by establishing mission-oriented development and logistics centers. The Army currently estimates the realinement will cost about $75 million, and after com- pletion of the realinement, the annual opera- ting costs will decrease by about $42 million.
