Hettinger, President of the Wyoming State Bar, announced on Febru- ary 7 that the Home Insurance Company would be reentering the lawyers' profes- sional liability insurance market. Hettinger praised Lhe efforts of the Bar's Insurance Committee, and particularly its former chairman and present member, Jack Stan- field, for its effots in bringing Home to the state. The managing agent for Home's profes- sional liability insurance is Professional Liability Underwriting Managers of Min- netonka, Minnesota. Mr. Stanfield's dis- cussions with Ms. Kris Rich of that firm led to the reentry of Home into the Wyoming market. Home's basic policy premiums are as follows: $100,000/S300,000/S1,000 deductide- $1012 $1 million/11 million/$5,000 deductible- $1525 The policies have full prior acts coverage. Of course, adjustments to premiums may be made due to prior claims experience, type of practice, etc. But the basic premniums quoted are much lower than what most attorneys are paying now, ac- cording to Mary Beth Senkewicz, Execu- IN THIS ISSUE *.. I think these prices are going to make a lot of lawyers pretty happy, she said. The agent handling the policies is the &m of Bayy, Martin and Fay of Wyoming in Casper. BMF of Wyoming will be sign- ing all policies. However, final approval of policies will be done by BMFIContinental of Salt Lake City, Utah, the agent which handles the Utah State Bar's sponsored in- surance program and with whom PLUM has been working for a number of years. The Officers of the State Bar, the Ex- ecutive Director, and members of the In- surance Committee have planned a meet- ing with representatives of BMF, the managing agent, and Home Insurance Company on February 24 in Casper to discuss Bar sponsorship of the program. However, Home will begin writing policies immediately for Wyoming attorneys. Applications may be obtained from BMF of Wyoming, 2000 E. 2nd St., Casper, WY 82609, 30712374553. Also, applications for policies may be obtained at the Wyoming State Bar offices, 632-9061. Grievance Committee The Grievance Committee of the Wyo- ming State Bar, acting upon a request by the Wyoming Supreme Court, recently fin- ished its study of the American Bar Association's New Model Rules of Profes- sional Conduct. The Grievance Commit- tee has engaged in the process of study- ing these new proposed rules for over one year. To this end, the Committee held an open hearing for lawyers in Laramie in August of 1985, and a public hearing in Casper in October of 1985. The Commit- Contined on page 24 United States District Court for the District of Wyoming, the Honorable Alan B. Johnson, was sworn in by the Honorable Clarence A. Brimmer on January 17, 1986. The ceremony took place in the United States Courthouse in Cheyenne. Among those dignitaries attending the ceremony were Senator Malcolm Wallop; the Honorable James E. Barrett of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the Honorable Ewing T. Kerr of the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming, as well as other federal judges; and on behalf of the Wyoming State Bar, William S. Bon, President-Elect, and David H. Carmichael, Vice-President. A Cheyenne native, Judge Johnson had served as a Laramie County District Court Judge since 1974. He has been replaced on the state district court bench by Edward L. Grant of Cheyenne. Judge Johnson will eventually have an office in the federal building in Casper, but until the remodeling of that building is completed, he will remain in the federal building in Cheyenne. Digitized from Best Copy Available CONVENTION DATES SET The dates and place of the next Annual Meeting of the Wyoming State Bar have been set. The Convention will be in Riverton, Wyoming, on September 17-19, 1966. The Convention will be headquartered at the Holiday Inn, and CLE seminars will be held at Central Wyoming Col- lege.
