More than 225 lawyers, bankers, donors, grant recipients, and friends gathered to recognize their col- leagues and pay tribute to the significant accomplishments of the past year. Through its IOLTA and Justice Grants programs, the Foundation is currently supporting two dozen organizations that provide civil legal services for the dis- advantaged or law-related public education programs for New Hampshire residents. Outgoing chair Paul W Chant expressed the board's appreciation to outgoing board members James Gleason, Marilyn McNamara, Emily Rice, and Steven Scudder. A Frank Rowe Keison Award recipient, Elliott Berry, poses with his wife, moment of silence was held for former board member, Bob parents, and 5on, after a poignant acceptance speech in which he descrbed Duriing, who passed away in March. Russell Hilliard, the the imporrance of defending the disadvantaged and hameless people of our state. With candor and humor, he encouraged continued support of these incoming Bar Foundation Chair, thanked Paul for his lead- services for New Hampshire residents. Lynch, and NH Supreme Court Chief Justice John T. Broderick, Jr., will also assist NHBA President Richard Y. Uchida in presenting the Donald E. Dufresne Professionalism award to Emily Rice; and the William Grimes Judicial Pro- fessionalism award to a recipient whose identity will be kept secret until that evening. On Saturday night, Uchida will present the NHBA President's Distinguished Service to the Profession award to John Bomster, Day by day highlights of the weekend meeting, taking place at the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa in WhltefCield, include: Thursday: Humorist at Law Sean Carter entertains guests with his own take on the legal life at the N HBA Annual Meeting opening banquet. Friday: Sean Carter conducts a special, interactive CLE review- ing key cases decided by the United States Su- preme Court. His fast-paced, interactive (com- petitive) CLE program, The Supreme Court June9,200 2004-2005 Tenn: The Real 'Shock and Awe' Campaign, will engage attendees in the first Fantasy United States Supreme Court League competition. This is an event worth staying in- side for (plus it's worth 1.5 hours of NHMCLE credits). During the day, guests have a range of ac- tivities to sample-from tennis, swimming, hik- ing, biking or shopping to porch-sitting at the historic Mountain View. (See schedule. ) h,, h I, That evening, a reception honoring the Bar's 50-year members will be held, followed by the banquet. In addition to Gov. Lynch and the pro- fessionalism award presentations, the banquet will feature rec- ognition of the retiring and newly appointed members of the judiciary. Then it's time to get up and dance into the night to the sounds of Club Soda. Saturday: Early-rising attendees (and commuters) have a choice of two NHBA CLE video replays (moderated, for live credit): Mulrijurisdictional Practice -Challenges Confronting Gov- ernment, Trial and Business Lawyers (original program: May 25,2006) or The New Unbundling Rule (Limited Represen- tation). Both programs will be conducted from 8 a.m to 11 a.m and qualify for 3.0 NH-MCLE Ethics/Professionalism hours. (See page 17 for details and a signup form.) The NHBA Annual Meeting Scrable Golf tournament is among the featured daytime activities. The banquet features the presentation of the Distinguished Service to the Profession award and the transition from NHBA President Richard Uchida to incoming NHBA President, Ri- chard McNamara, of Wiggin & Nourie.
