The amount brings the total IOLTA grants awarded to more than six million dollars since 1984. Five civil legal service applicants were awarded grants, including New Hampshire Legal Assistance, $447,920; New Hampshire Pro Bono Referral System, $96,180; Franklin Pierce Law Center Civil Practice Clinic, $41,140; New Hampshire liar Association Reduced Fee Referral Service, $9,460; and New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violen-e, $3,000. Barial has resigned as Execu- tive Director of the New Hampshire Bar Association (NHBA), effective July 19. Barial, the first African-American woman to head a state bar association, cited a need to expose her children to greater Ellen Barial racial and cultural diversity as one reason for her decision. She expects to seek opportunities in the southwestern United States. I'm leaving with mixed emotions, said Barial. I'm excited about what's ahead and sad about leaving people I have enjoyed working with. Barial, who has led the bar association since 1988, said Barial to page 7 1993-94 Association Budget Prepared by Susan B. Now that everyone has taken a major sigh of relief, let's move beyond the political pleasantries and look at our 1993-94 proposet budget. For yet another year, the Finance Committee and Board of Governors have prepared a budget which includes no dues increase. Since this is now the eighth year in a row with no such increase, the preparation of the budget has required a considerable measure of creativity to ensure that core programs be maintained. This has not been easy. Over the past few years the Board has approved substantial cuts to preclude an increase.
