This seminar will be repeated on March 24, and 25, 1967 at Jackson, Mississippi and again on April 21 and 22, 19,67 on the Gulf Coast. The program was announced in the De- cember 1966 issue of the Mississippi Law- yer. It includes lectures on the following: Introduction to the Uniform Commercial Code; Basic Criminal Law and Procedure; Recent Changes in the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure; Recent Developments in Workmen's Compensation; and Mergers, Dissolutions and Liquidations of Corpora- tions and Tax Problems Connected There- with. These seminars are sponsored by the Mis- sissippi State Bar. All Mississippi lawyers are urged to attend one of these regional seminars. Feel free to attend a seminar even though it is not held in your section of the State. At Chancery and Circuit Level With the beginning of the New Year, three newly elected Circuit judges and four newly elected Chancellors began serving their initial terms of office. In the Third Circuit Court District, composed of Benton, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Lafayette, Marshall, Oktibbeha, and Union Counties, Honorable W. W. Brown, of Calhoun City, Mississippi, took office as Judge. Judge Brown is a graduate of the University of Mississippi Law School. He practiced in Calhoun City prior to his election as Judge in November, and also served as County Attorney for Calhoun County. Marion County Bar Elects New Officers The Marion County Bar Association, at its December meeting, recognized Circuit Judge Sebe Dale's completion of four con- secutive terms. The bar presented judge Dale with a gift certificate as a token of their appreciation for his 16 years' service to Marion and the surrounding counties in the Fifteenth Judicial District. The follow- ing were elected officers for 1967: President, Vernon H. Broom; Vice-President, James R. Davis; Secretary-Treasurer, William C. Callender. Participating in the December meeting of the Winston County Bar Association were (left to right) Marshall Perry, Circuit Judge; Robert Prisock, Chancellor; Burris 0. Smith, President; G. Jyles Eaves, Vice President; and Charles D. Fair, Secretary and Treasurer. Honorable Lester F. Williamson of Meri- dian, Mississippi, was sworn in as Circuit Judge of the Tenth District. The Tenth District is composed of Clarke, Lauderdale and Wayne Counties. Judge Williamson is also a graduate of the University of Mis- sissippi Law School, and was associated with the firm of Williamson, Pigford and Hendricks in the practice of law in Meridian prior to his becoming Judge. In the Thirteenth District, composed of Covington, Jasper, Simpson, and Smith Counties, Honorable Joe A. McFarland, Jr. of Bay Springs, Mississippi, ascended to the post vacated upon the retirement of Honorable Homer Currie. Judge McFarland received his legal education at the Univer- sity of Mississippi School of Law, and was senior partner of the firm of McFarland & McFarland before taking office as Judge. In the Eighth Chancery Court District, consisting of Hancock, Harrison, and Stone Counties, Honorable Frank Alexander of Long Beach, Mississippi, became Chancel- lor, holding place two. The new Chancellor received his legal education at the Univer- sity of Mississippi School of Law and was previously associated with the firm of Estes and Alexander of Gulfport, Missis- sippi. The Ninth Chancery Court District, con- taining Humphreys, Issaquena, Sharkey, Sunflower, Warren and Washington Coun- ties, elected two new Chancellors to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Honorable S. B. Thomas of Greenville. Honorable E. S. Kellner, Greenville, Mis- sissippi, was elected to place one. Chancel- lor Kellner received his leal education at '(CJn-f Crdi42page 4)
