Valyo Al Cerhardstein's secretary, Mary Ar- mor, tells me that her bosses are like no other attorneys you'll ever meet. After talking with Al Gerhardstein, I believe it. Alphonse A. Gerhardstein graduated from Beloit College in Wisconsin in 1973. He received his Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law in 1976, attending on a Root-Tilden scholarship. Since that time, he has been an attorney for the people, working for the Legal Action Center of New York, then for the Legal Aid Society in Cincinnati. He joined Bob Laufman in 1978 in what has become one of the most satisfying relationships of his career Bob is an incredible person, a very good man, said Gerhardstein in an in- terview held in November of last year He truly loves his work, and so do 1, and I think that's why we get along so well. Bob is very supportive. Like Laufman, Al Gerhardstein prac- tices primarily in the area of civil rights, and has developed national recognition for his work in sex and racial discrimination cases, and more recently, in the abortion dispute bet- ween Planned Parenthood and the City of Cincinnati.
