§ 111. International Law and Agreements as Law of the United States

C.A.9, 2024. Com. (h) quot. in sup. Chief engineer of a foreign cargo ship challenged his conviction in
the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California of violating a Coast Guard regulation,
which implemented duties from international treaties such as MARPOL, and required the shipmaster to

the agreement itself that was given effect as law in the United States. United States v. Korotkiy, 118
