Number, Race, and Sex of Perpetrators

The number of persons known to be involved in the 1,362 bank robberies,
burglaries, and larcenies was 1,652. The following table shows a breakdown
of the 1,652 persons by race and sex. In a small number of cases, the use of
full disguise makes determination of race and sex impossible.

Investigation to date has resulted in the identification of 801 of the
1,652 persons known to be involved. Of these 801 identified persons,
26.2 percent were determined to be users of narcotics, and 30 percent have
previous convictions in either federal or state court for bank robbery, bank
burglary, or bank larceny.
