Rex Farrior, Jr. Tampa, Florida ANOTHER APPROACH TO SPECIALIZATION - THE FLORIDA PLAN The Florida Plan, which has been drafted by the Florida Bar Specialization Committee and is presently pending before the Board of Governors, provides protec tion for the general practitioners, by placing them on an equal basis with other specialists. This plan varies sharply from certain other states' plans, which could adversely affect the general practitioner. 1. Power, immediate Past President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Council member and Annual Meeting Program Chairman for the Section of General Practice, after several months of planning, has announced the programs which will be presented by the Section. Chesterfield Smith, President of the American Bar Association, has directed that all programs for all Committees and Sections be held during the five-day period from Monday, August 12 through Friday, August 16. Accordingly, the three programs of the Section will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 13 and 14, 1974. On Tuesday morning, August 13, our Section will present a program entitled Arbitration Roundup for the General Practitioner. The program will be held in conjunction with the Section of Insurance, Negligence and Compensation Law and will be presented at the Sheraton-Wakiki Hotel from 10:00 A.M. until 12 Noon. It will be sponsored by the General Practice Section's Committee on Court Modernization chaired by Leonard Gilbert of Tampa, Florida, and by the Committee on Arbitration and Other Non-Judicial Determination of Disputes of the Insurance, Negligence and Compensation Law Section. Robert Coulson is Chairman of this committee and is also Program Chairman for the Section of Insurance, Negligence and Compensation Law. Speakers will include: * Professor Robert E. Keeton of Cambridge, Mass. - Resolving Negligence Claims in Non-Judicial Forums * Professor Gerald Aksen of New York City - What You Need to Know About Arbitration Law * Bernard L. Hines of New York City - The Insur- ance Industry's Arbitration Systems * Professor Alan I. Widiss, of Iowa City, Iowa - The Developing Law of Uninsured Motorists Arbitration * Dean W. Determan of Washington, DC - Small Claims Arbitration The program on Wednesday afternoon will be titled -Salvation for the Sole Practitioner.
